Total Eclipse Information

The total solar eclipse will be happening on Monday, April 8th and will be visible from all over Southern Illinois. We are so excited for this awesome event and we know you are too. Here is some great info to help you have the best eclipse experience possible. The next one to pass over North America will not be until August 23, 2044.

Glasses

  • The library has a limited number of glasses and viewers available
  • 2 per family while supplies last
  • If you need more SIU will be giving them out at all SIU events for free

Library Programs

March 28th at 5:30 pm: Make your own Eclipse Viewers from a Cereal Box! Best for ages 5 and up.

April 7th at 4:00 pm: Eclipse Storytime and Concert with Dino O’Dell! All ages welcome.

Library Hours

The library will be closed on Monday, April 8th. The book drop will be open and no late fees will be charged that day.
