Mission

The purpose of this organization shall be: 
to raise funds in support of the Carbondale Public Library; 
to maintain an association of persons interested in the library; 
to focus public attention on library services, facilities, and needs; 
to stimulate gifts of books and desirable collections; to stimulate donations, endowments, and bequests to the library;
to support and cooperate with the library in developing its services and facilities for the use of the community; 
and to support the library’s efforts to promote its mission and values.

Membership

The Friends of the Library Board meetings are held in the library meeting room on the third Thursday of each month. All members are welcome to attend. The annual membership meeting is held during National Library Week each April. An annual membership is just $5.00. Membership dues may be paid by check to the Friends of the Carbondale Public Library.

Yearly dues (4/1 through 3/31)
Individual: $5 annually
Family: $10 annually
Life membership: one-time payment of $150 (includes a name to post on plaque in the library)

Used Book Sale

The Friends sponsor used book sales in the Brush building (next door to the library). Proceeds from the book sales sponsors library programs such as summer reading, Project Next Generation, and the library’s audiobook collection. Your annual dues help to support these programs.
