Learn how to crochet!
Wed., April 3 @ 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm
This weekly class will teach the basics of crochet. Each week will build on the skills learned the previous week. This class is best for teens and adults, but older children may attend with permission, please email fwien@carbondale.lib.il.us for permission. Limited basic supplies will be provided. If you would like to buy your own supplies we will be starting with a 5mm hook and medium weight yarn (if you are unfamiliar with these terms, don’t worry you will learn). We will meet weekly from April 3rd until April 24th.
- Week 1: Talk about supplies, learn basic terms, and learn the names of common stitches. Goal is to leave knowing how to make a chain stitch.
- Week 2: Learn single crochet and double crochet stitches, as well as how to turn your work (make rows).
- Week 3: Start a simple project using the skill you have learned.
- Week 4: Learn how finish off a project and weave your yarn ends.
