Southern Illinois: The Eclipse Crossroads of America

In August 2017, a total solar eclipse path stretched across the entire country, with the point of greatest duration just a few miles south of Carbondale. The same region is also in the path of the upcoming total eclipse on April 8, 2024, with the duration of totality nearly double what was seen in 2017. SIUC is leading a nationwide NASA project to gather data from the sun during the 2024 eclipse. Dr. Corinne Brevik joins us to discuss the Dynamic Eclipse Broadcast (DEB) Initiative. This educational program is hosted by the Carbondale Branch American Association of University Women (AAUW).
