LWV presents: The Equal Rights Amendment

December 2023 marks the 100th anniversary of the ERA’s first introduction into Congress. Attorney Thorne will share the history of the ERA and why it is still important to women today.

Michele H. Thorne is an attorney in private practice and an active volunteer. She has worked for a portrait photography company, the national offices of a religious organization, a professional health care association, and a law firm in Chicago. She attended college and law school at Northwestern University and business school at the University of Chicago. Thorne has given ERA presentations to varied audiences, including women’s and advocacy groups, communities, college students, and other lawyers. Thorne drafted an ERA resolution that passed both chambers of the Illinois legislature this spring; the resolution has also been introduced in other legislatures and passed the house in Hawai’i.
